Have You Seen What's Coming Up?

Have you been to the Alumni Events page recently? There is so much going on! Perhaps you are a sports fan, maybe a parent of young children, or maybe comedy is more your thing. Whatever you are into, we have got something for you to enjoy as a benefit of being a member of the Lakeland College Alumni Association, simply by being an alumnus of the college.

Along with the New Year came a new events listing. To kick things off there will be a gathering of alumni at the Lakeland College basketball double header at Concordia University in Chicago! You can bring the whole family out to cheer on the men and women Muskies to a road win. Following the game, there will be a reception at Molly Malones (pre-registration is required). What better way to spend your weekend?

If sports are not really your thing, maybe you would enjoy an evening of contemporary dance and culture at the main campus Bradley Fine Arts Building. Nai Ni Chen will be appearing as part of the Krueger Fine Arts Series that takes place each year at Lakeland. Her choreography fuses the dynamic freedom of American modern dance with the grace and splendor of Asian art. The New York Times describes her work as exhibiting "endlessly proliferating forces of cosmic energy."

Looking for something more family-friendly? How about a weekend getaway to the Wisconsin Dells? Lakeland alumni and their families are welcome at The Wilderness resort. Check back soon for precise details.

For those "homebodies", maybe a wine tasting right in Sheboygan would satisfy. The Alumni office is joining forces with the Career Development office to host a "Wine Taste and Talks" networking event. Alumni can enjoy a few tastes and the company of current students at this event, and may even be able to network with graduating seniors who are looking for employment. This is a great opportunity to volunteer AND enjoy yourself!

Looking ahead to the future are many other events. Some are old favorites like the annual WAICU Brewer Game, which will be a Brewers/Cubs match up this year! Some upcoming events are annual favorites, like Alumni College and Homecoming. Of course there are also new events, like the appearance of The Second City right here at Lakeland's main campus. Whatever you are looking for, you are sure to find it here. Check back often for updates on events, registration openings, and any other information you may need. See you soon!
