- ABOUT LAKELAND

Did you know that tuition fees and endowment income fail to cover the total cost of a Lakeland College education? Similar to most colleges, there is a gap between the cost to educate a Lakeland student and the income generated from tuition and endowment.
To bridge that gap, the Annual Fund is Lakeland's yearly appeal to alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff, corporations, and foundations to support student scholarships and operating costs. We begin our direct appeal to alumni November 1-13 through the annual Alumni Phonathon.
During this time, you will be receiving a phone call from a Lakeland College student, requesting your gift to this year's annual fund. Keep in mind, no gift is too small. It is more important to have as many people participating as possible. Ten $10 gifts quickly add up to $100, and that is the beauty of the Annual Fund: it aggregates many small, moderate, and large gifts into one very powerful fund.
The Annual Fund works in two important ways. First, it makes funds available in the form of scholarships to students whose families otherwise would not be able to afford a college education. Second, the fund supports programs and operations of the college that then defray the cost that must be passed on to students.
This year, the goal of The Annual Fund is $1 million, and the Phonathon is one component of this with a goal of $60,000. We hope that when you receive a phone call in early November, you will remember the value of your Lakeland education and that you will give what you can to help us reach our goal. To learn more about the Annual Fund and to see how your dollars are put to use, please take a moment to watch a new video on the web that explains in more detail how the fund works to continue the legacy of this very special place we call Lakeland College.
