Kellett School Anniversary

Alumni Association - posted on 1/28/2009

The Kellett School of Adult Education is marking its 30th anniversary this academic year and the Office of Alumni Relations has been working with the staff of each Kellett School Center around the state to plan a networking reception at a center near you. The Kellett School is proud to have over 7700 alumni across the globe that attended classes at one of the centers or through the online program.

If you are one of those 7700, come and help us celebrate this important milestone in the history of Kellett School, and the pioneering spirit of the man who gave the school its name, William R. Kellett.

Current and former faculty, current students, and business leaders are invited to join the alumni and staff of each center to participate in the festivities that will honor and mark the college's success in adult education for the last 30 years. The celebrations will take place on the following dates at these locations.

  • Thursday, February 5, Sheboygan Center, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 18, online, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 10, Green Bay Center, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 18, Milwaukee Center, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 19, Madison Center, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 1, Chippewa Valley Center, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 2, Wisconsin Rapids Center, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 9, Fox Cities Center, 4:00-6:00 p.m.

The unique online "webinar" party planned on February 18 is especially for those students who have experienced Lakeland largely, or completely, as online students, though any graduate is welcome to login! Email alumni@lakeland.edu or contact Charmaine Jankowski, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations by phone, 920-565-1404 to request your webinar invitation. Upon your request, you will be sent all the details you need to join us in cyberspace!

William R. Kellett, a prominent Wisconsin businessman and inventor, inspired the birth of adult education in Wisconsin. Through his vision and his assessment of the continuing educational needs of working adults, Lakeland College developed an evening classroom program in 1978. This innovative program was the first of its kind in the state. Now called Lakeland's Kellett School of Adult Education, this program has grown to include seven centers around the state offering popular in-class, online, and BlendEd® courses. Hundreds of adults enroll in this program each semester to complete their degrees and to elevate their careers through eight undergraduate and four graduate programs. Since Mr. Kellett's efforts 30 years ago, thousands of individuals and businesses have been touched by the benefits of this program in communities around the state and beyond.

We look forward to having you join us for the festivities!
