- ABOUT LAKELAND

The Office of Alumni Relations is working with some fellow Lakeland College colleagues to plan two fascinating trips in the spring of 2011. If you are feeling adventurous, consider the following:
For many years, Martin Ulrich, chair of Lakeland's Creative Arts Division, has offered a May term class that lets Lakeland College students imagine they are travelling through time in Germany, from the age when Germanic barbarians faced the Romans to today's Germany, the economic powerhouse of modern Europe. This year we are extending this adventure to alumni. On this 1 1/2-week trip you will visit an actual Roman villa, take a Rhine River cruise into the Middle Ages, tour the Renaissance palaces and art galleries in Munich, stroll through the classical world of Mozart's Salzburg and visit "Mad" King Ludwig's "fairy tale" castle, Neuschwanstein. Other stops include Esslingen and the ultra-modern city of Frankfurt.
The trip is planned for early May, 2011. The travel package is still being developed at this time, and will cost approximately $2,500-$3,000 per person. We are putting the word out now, because we'd like to determine the level of alumni interest. We can craft some accommodations to suit your needs, (many of the overnight stays are in hostels, but we will provide upgrades if you prefer.) Please contact Lisa Vihos, director of alumni relations, at 920-565-1295 or vihoslb@lakeland.edu if you are interested in participating in this trip, or would like more information.
Delight in the rich and fascinating history and vibrant cultural heritage of Budapest, Hungary, and Prague, Czech Republic. This European excursion leaves the last weekend of May 2011 for eight days and seven nights. In addition to the amazing sights of Budapest and Prague, travelers will have the opportunity to cheer on our Lakeland College men's basketball team as they compete with professional teams.
The travel package includes all transportation (ground and air) to and from Sheboygan, lodging and one meal per day for approximately $2,100 per person. Group discounts have not been applied to this trip, so if the size of Lakeland's group increases, the cost could be reduced. More details about this trip will be available soon, so if you're interested in learning more, please contact Charmaine Jankowski '03, associate director of alumni relations, at 920-565-1404 or jankowskicm@lakeland.edu.
