Lakeland Muskies Defeat Dominican 42-31

Sophomore Brenda Paulson came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points as the Lakeland women's basketball team beat Dominican, 42-31, on Saturday afternoon.

"We have had a hard time the past two weeks putting the ball in the hoop and that continued today," said head coach April Arvan. "I thought we'd turn it around today playing at home, but it didn't happen. We have to find some spark to help us shoot a little bit better."

Paulson also grabbed seven rebounds, and sophomore Jenna Boehm added her fourth double-double as she finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

"(The way Brenda played tonight) is the way we expect her to play all the time, not just two or three games a year," said Arvan. "We need her to prove she can do that every game, because we need that from her. Jenna Boehm was a consistent player and has always been. For her to go for a double-double today was critical for us to win."

The Muskies shot only 25 percent from the field, but made up for it by out-rebounding the Stars 55-33.

With the score 20-16 at halftime, Lakeland used an 11-0 run to open the second half and put the game out of reach. With the win Lakeland improved to 14-6 overall and 9-2 in Lake Michigan Conference play.
