Muskies shut out Falcons in OT
Athletics - posted on 1/8/2005
At the end of regulation, Renee Steinert and Beth Porter were key in keeping the Lakeland women’s basketball team close in the final minutes as they took Concordia into overtime. It was fitting that these two scored the only points in overtime as the Muskies shut the Falcons out in the extra period, winning 71-62.
Steinert scored 24 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, and Porter also scored 24, while bringing down seven boards.
Lakeland led the entire game until giving up the lead with 2:16 left to play, but tied it at 62 when Sara Langenhorst broke away for a fast break layup with just 30 seconds to play.
The Falcons had a chance to win, but Angie Davis’ runner in the lane missed at the buzzer.
Ashley Vorwerk finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds for the Falcons, and Stacey Rusch scored 13 in the losing effort.
The Muskies, now 3-1 in conference and 8-6 overall, will next play Wisconsin Lutheran on Tuesday, January 11. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
