Trailing 37-30 with just over 11 minutes left to play, Marian went on a 21-5 run that put them out comfortably. The Sabres’ final field goal of the game came at the 5:18 mark, to make the score 45-40. They scored the remaining 22 points on free throws.

Ryan Hiir scored a game-high 17 points for Lakeland in the losing effort, and Nick Zeck tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out with 3:17 to play.

Nick Vogt, who was 10 for 12 at the free throw line, scored 14 to lead the Sabres.

Lakeland shot just 35 percent from the floor in the game, including a frigid 27 percent behind the arc.
