The Lakeland College women's basketball team (12-8, 9-5 NAC) fell to Concordia, Wis., 67-48, in Northern Athletics Conference action on Saturday, Feb. 3, in Mequon, Wis.
Although the Muskies hung with the Falcons for the majority of the first half, turnovers and below average shooting by Lakeland allowed Concordia to build a 31-20 lead by halftime.
"We knew going in that we had to play a picture-perfect game in order to beat them," said head coach April Arvan. "We battled well for the first 15 minutes of the first half, but they started scoring points off our turnovers. We turned the ball over way too much and didn't shoot well."
Although three of the Muskies' starters struggled with their shooting, senior forward Jenna Boehm led the squad with 17 points and eight rebounds.
"Boehm had a steady game and KC Blahnik did well off the bench. Megan Chart also did a fairly good job."
Blahnik and Chart, both freshman guards, finished with 13 and seven points respectively, while Blahnik also chipped in six boards.
The loss breaks Lakeland's three game NAC win streak, but the squad will have the opportunity to regain control with a home game against Rockford on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
"There's just not enough season left to dwell on anything positive or negative or loose confidence," Arvan said. "We need to take care of business in every game and see how we bounce back from this situation."
Game time with Rockford is set for 7 p.m. in Lakeland's Moose and Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
