Athletics - posted on 1/12/2011

A second-half comeback, led by junior guard Josh Regal's 17 points and freshman forward Justin Ward's career-high 16 points, helped the Lakeland College men's basketball team to a 71-66 win over Northern Athletics Conference rival Marian University Wednesday night in the Woltzen Gym.

The Muskies (7-6, 3-3 NAC) trailed most of the game until junior guard Bobby Komorowski drilled a 3-pointer with 7:28 left in the game to give Lakeland a two point lead. Lakeland held onto the lead for the remainder of the game as the Sabres went cold from the floor.

Regal (Suring, Wis.) hit a couple of clutch 3-pointers and free throws in the final minutes of the game to secure Lakeland's win. Junior guard Jack Ridgway (Sioux Falls, S.D.) also hit a pair of free throws with 25 seconds left to give the team a six point cushion.

For the game, Lakeland shot 36.2 percent from the floor, 40 percent from behind the arc and 86.4 percent from the charity stripe. After a hot first-half, Marian ended the game 44.6 percent from the floor, 57.1 percent from behind the arc and just 66.7 percent from the free throw line.

Ridgway ended the night with 15 points, including a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Junior forward Germell Heard (Milwaukee, Wis.) posted 10 points to go along with a game-high nine rebounds, while also going a perfect 6-6 from the line.

Colin Lohenry led Marian with a game-high 20 points, including going 9-for-12 from the floor.
