LA CROSSE, Wis.- Junior grappler Ryan Renon just missed becoming Lakeland's third All-American at the NCAA Division III National tournament at the La Crosse Center Friday night.
After falling in round one in a 10-5 decision to Joe Hambleton of Cornell College, Renon battled back in the consolations after earning a pin over William Painter of Ohio Northern in 4:10 for the chance to qualify for Saturday. In the fourth round of the consolation, Renon fell in a 19-2 technical fall to No. 8 James Myers of Olivet College.
Renon, who wrestled at the 165-pound weight class, finished a prolific career, including an impressive 32-6 record.
