The Lakeland College men's basketball team returned to its winning ways in an 85-65 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College, just two days after a heartbreaking one-point loss to Concordia University Wisconsin, in Northern Athletics Conference action Thursday night in the Moose and Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
With the win, the Muskies (12-4, 6-2) kept themselves one win behind Edgewood College in the NAC North Division race.
"This was an important win for us tonight," said head coach Aaron Aanonsen. "The guys did a good job rebounding after Tuesday's loss and it's important that we keep moving forward."
Sophomore James Oshkeshequoam (Keshena) got things started for the Muskies with an opening 3-pointer as Lakeland controlled much of the first half. The Muskies took a 15-point, 46-31 lead at halftime behind a 16-point performance from junior Jake Schwarz (Sheboygan).
Lakeland never relinquished its lead throughout the game and extended its 15-point advantage at half to as many as 20 points in the second half. The Warriors trailed from the opening tip as Lakeland handed them their seventh conference loss.
Sophomore Justin Ward (Wisconsin Dells) and Schwarz had a key presence in the lane as Lakeland scored 52 points in the paint. Schwarz ended the night with a double-double, including 25 points and 20 rebounds, while Ward chipped in with 22 points and seven rebounds.
Senior Josh Regal (Suring) dished out nine assists, while scoring 11 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
