MADISON, Wis.- Junior Jake Schwarz recorded a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds, but the Lakeland College men's basketball team came up short in an 86-81 loss to Edgewood College in Northern Athletics Conference play Tuesday night at the Edgedome.

The Muskies (15-5, 9-3 NAC) and the Eagles went back-and-forth in a physical and intense game with neither team taking more than a 10-point lead.

In the first half, Lakeland used a 15-8 run to tie the game at 21 when senior Jack Ridgway hit a jumper with 7:40 left to play. Schwarz gave the Muskies their first lead when he sank a pair of free throws with 2:02 left to play to give Lakeland a two-point, 34-32 cushion. The Eagles responded quickly to tie the game at 34, but the Muskies went into the locker room with a 39-38 advantage. Schwarz hit 9-of-10 free throws, including 3-of-4 flagrant fouls to help Lakeland take the lead.

Senior Josh Regal opened the second half with a 3-pointer to give Lakeland a three-point lead, but defensively the Muskies couldn't stop Edgewood in the final minutes of the game and got out-rebounded 45-28.

Sophomore Justin Ward finished the night with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Regal chipped in with 11 points and eight assists.

The Muskies return to NAC action on Saturday as they host Benedictine University in cross-division play. Tip is slated for 4:15 p.m. in the Moose and Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
