Athletics - posted on 2/18/2012

Four Muskies posted double-digit performances to lead the Lakeland College men's basketball team to a lopsided 103-69 win over Rockford College in the Northern Athletics Conference Challenge Game Saturday evening in the Moose and Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

Lakeland improves to 19-6 and heads into the NAC quarterfinals on Tuesday on a three-game win streak.

After a back-and-forth first couple of minutes, Lakeland pulled away in the first half on a 22-10 run to take a 49-32 advantage at halftime. The Muskies forced 16 Rockford turnovers that they turned into an 18-point surplus. Regal hit three 3-pointers in the first half to lead the team with 13 points.

Rockford had no answer for the nation's seventh leader in scoring offense (89.6) as Lakeland extended its lead to 37 points in the second half. Rockford's Arthur Miller hit a last second 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left, but it was too little and too late.

Sophomore Justin Ward (Wisconsin Dells) led all scorers with 23 points and seven rebounds, while Regal (Suring) finished with 18 points and five assists. Junior Jake Schwarz (Sheboygan) finished with 14 points and nine rebounds, while senior Jack Ridgway (Sioux Falls, S.D.) chipped in with 11 points and four assists.
