The Lakeland College men's and women's track and field teams each finished seventh at the Wisconsin Private College Championships at Ripon College on Sunday.
The Muskies continue to improve their times and have their eyes on the Northern Athletics Conference Outdoor Championships, May 4-5.
The women's team, which finished with 21 points, was led by Vashia Gordon (Green Bay, Wis.) who tallied nine points, highlighted by a six-point, third place finish in the high jump, with a NAC record of five feet .25 inches. She also earned points in the 200-meter dash and the long jump. Danielle Holzer (Plymouth, Wis.) added seven points and Christine Deitte (Fond du Lac, Wis.) contributed five points.
On the men's side, Lakeland had with 30 points, led by Dylan Grimsrud (Sheboygan, Wis.) who tallied 12 points with a pair of third-place finishes in the 400 and 600. The Muskies relay teams each scored points, earning three in the 1,600 relay and four in the 400 relay. Yaphay Harvey (Milwaukee, Wis.) earned his first points of the season, scoring two points in the 100 and 200.
In the men's field events, Patrick Johnson (Pontiac, Mich.) tallied seven points, earning four in the triple jump and three in the long jump.
Lakeland looks to continue its steady improvement and finished on a high note at the conference championships on Friday, May 4, at the Benedictine Sports Complex in Lisle, Ill., and Saturday, May 5, at the Concordia Stadium in River Forest, Ill. Friday's events begin at 9:30 a.m. with Saturday's events starting at 11 a.m.
