Sophomore Chelsea Gile and senior Ben Laubusch have been named Lakeland College's Muskies of the Week for their performance in action last week. Read about their success below. 
Chelsea Gile
Sophomore Chelsea Gile garnered Muskie of the Week honors for the second time this season after helping lead the Lakeland College softball team to a 4-2 mark in Northern Athletics Conference action last week.
On April 11, Gile powered the Muskies past rival Marian University with a two-run home run to edge the Sabres, 5-3. On April 14, Gile hit a three-run home run to lead Lakeland to an 8-2 decision over Concordia University Wisconsin.
The Grand Junction, Mich., native finished the week with six hits, six RBIs, four runs and a double. Her .765 slugging percentage and 1.000 fielding percentage led the team. For her efforts, Gile was nominated for NAC Player of the Week.

Gile is majoring in criminal justice and business management.

Q. How many more home runs can Muskie fans expect out of you this year?
A: They just come, maybe three or four.
Q: Who influences your game the most?
A: My dad, because he's always there to support me.
Q: What do you most need to work on?
A: Keeping my hands up and not dipping.
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
A: Brazil, because I want to see my foreign exchange student again.
Ben Laubusch
Senior golfer Ben Laubusch garnered Muskie of the Week honors after helping lead the Lakeland College golf team to a fifth place finish at the Bluejay Classic last week.
On April 9, Laubusch registered his first top-5 finish of the season, tying for second with a 78, six over par, just one shot behind the winner Josh Kopka.
The Germantown, Wis., native is the leader of the men's golf team and has averaged an 82.0 per 18 holes this season, with two top-10 finishes in six events.

Q. Where do you expect to finish at the Conference Championships?
A: Top-10, I had a good fall, but I need to play my way into All-Conference
Q: What has been your favorite golf memory at Lakeland?
A: Freshman year, playing ping pong with former head coach Tyler Bormann
Q: What is the best club in your bag?
A: My 3-wood, I hit it the straightest. I can tell where it's going every time, which usually helps.
Q: If you could play any course in the world, which would it be and why?
A: Augusta National because of the prestige of the Masters and the privacy of the course.
