The Muskies finished in 12th during the weekend at the Culver's Edgewood Fall Invite on Sunday Sept. 18 and Monday Sept. 19. On a rainy, dreary Monday where the weather was less than perfect Lakeland saw strong action out of two golfers as well as an improved score from another. Sophomore Justin Goosen carded a 76 and an 82 to finish in 12th place in the tournament after ending the first round in sixth place.
"Justin has gotten out to great starts in both events," said head coach Jeff Nicholas. "However, he needs to be able to complete a full round in order to take the next step and enter into the top ten."
Freshman Nate Lockhart finished with an 83 and an 85 on the tournament.
"Nate has yet to put his whole game together," said Nicholas. "While he has played well, each event one piece seems to be missing and as he gets more tournament experience I expect that he will improve."
Matt Andrews, a junior from Appleton, dropped 15 strokes off his first day total and coach Nicholas is looking for him to be able to vie for a roster spot in the upcoming Carthage "27 Hole" Classic on Thursday, Sept. 22.
