Edgewood shuts out Lakeland men's soccer team, 2-0

MADISON - Edgewood College scored single goals in the first and second halves and the Lakeland College men's soccer team got off just four shots in a 2-0 loss in a Northern Athletics Conference match Wednesday night.

The Eagles outshot the Muskies 24-4 in the match and improved to 5-3-1 overall and 3-1 in the NAC. Lakeland was shut out for the fifth time this season and dropped to 2-6-1 overall and 0-2-1 in conference.

Edgewood scored the first goal in the 28th minute when Andrew Aurit got by his defender and then found Kelmend Isaj in the middle, with Isaj converting to make it 1-0. The Eagles added a second goal at 73:44 of the match when Stephen Gilbert cleaned up a rebound of a blocked shot by Jacob Overman, putting it back past Muskie goalkeeper Alex Piekarski (Sr.-Menasha, Wis.).

Piekarski kept Lakeland in the match by making ten saves, including six in the second half. Farouk Dadzie (Jr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) led the Muskie offense with two shots, while Daiki Sato and Josh Borts (Fr.-Greenfield, Wis.) had the team's lone two shots on goal.

Lakeland returns to the field Saturday when it travels to River Forest, Ill., to face Concordia University Chicago at 3:30 p.m.
