SHEBOYGAN - Katie Freitag (Jr.-Kiel, Wis.) pounded home 10 kills and the Lakeland College women's volleyball team got back on track with a three-set sweep of Concordia University Chicago Saturday afternoon on Homecoming in a Northern Athletics Conference match.
Lakeland defeated the Cougars 25-21, 25-19, 25-23, improving to 14-8 overall and 4-4 in the NAC. With four matches left in the regular season before the NAC Tournament, the Muskies also clinched a winning season, their first since 2009.
Anna Faust (Jr.-Cross Plains, Wis.) also finished with eight kills and Taylor Daus (Sr.-Bay Port, Wis.) added seven kills. Brittany Reindl (Jr.-Kenosha, Wis.) posted 27 assists while Faust led the team with 10 digs. Reindl and Melissa Christiansen (Jr.-Valders, Wis.) added eight digs each.
Claire Mackey and Bianca Gordon led Concordia with eight kills each, while Jenna Boggs added 20 assists. The Cougars dropped to 4-13 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
Lakeland returns to play Tuesday night when it travels to Madison to face Edgewood College at 7 p.m.
