Muskies prepare for final non-conference test at Carthage

The Lakeland College football team will hit the road for the first time this season when it travels to face Carthage College in a non-conference game Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Art Keller Field in Kenosha.

The Muskies come in at 0-2 and last week were dealt their second straight tough loss, falling 31-24 to Kalamazoo. Carthage is 1-1 on the season after defeating Adrian (Mich.) 20-17 in its opener before losing 27-3 last week to Wartburg (Iowa).

Lakeland and Carthage are meeting for the 23rd time and the 16th straight year. The Red Men hold a 15-7 advantage in the series and have won eight straight meetings, including a 38-0 win last year in Kenosha. Carthage raced to a 31-0 lead at halftime, taking advantage of three Muskie turnovers in the first half. Lakeland's last win in the series came in 2003, a 17-16 win at Carthage in which the Red Men missed a tying extra point in the fourth quarter.

Saturday night's game will be broadcast live by WLIP AM 1050 in Kenosha will broadcast live over the radio and online at http://www.wlip.com. Carthage announcers John Weiser and Tom Roders will call the action.
