Professor of Sociology
Alan Mock, a member of Lakeland's faculty since 1993, launched the college's criminal justice program, which today enrolls nearly 100 majors. He has served as chair of the Social Science Division and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the college's Institutional Review Board, which paves the way for students to conduct meaningful and ethical research.
After earning his bachelor's in sociology from Manchester College (Manchester, Ind.) in 1983, Mock added his master's (1985) and doctorate (1988) from Purdue University.
Mock's areas of expertise include social stratification, religion, race and ethnicity, gender, social theory and criminology.
He has served on nearly every college committee, and has taught 22 different courses.
