Assistant professor of instrumental music and director of bands
Evan Chancellor serves as director of bands at Lakeland University. He conducts the Concert Band and Pep Band and teaches applied horn, as well as courses in music history, music appreciation and music education. Chancellor previously served on the faculty of Oklahoma Baptist University, East Central Oklahoma State University and Oral Roberts University. He also held teaching positions with programs including El Sistema Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Homeschool Bands and public schools in Oklahoma and Texas. In the summer, Chancellor teaches at Lakeland Music Camp as well as Hummingbird Music Camp in New Mexico.
An active performer, Chancellor has given solo and chamber performances in Austria, France, Japan, China and throughout the U.S. Prior to coming to Wisconsin, he was a founding member of the Norman Philharmonic, Frontier Brass Band and the Oklahoma Haydn Festival, and was featured as a concerto soloist with the Haydn Festival in 2014 and 2017. He performed regularly with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Tulsa Symphony and has also appeared with the Edmond Jazz Orchestra, Enid Symphony, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, the North Texas Chamber Orchestra and the Eisenstadt Classical Music Festival orchestra.
Chancellor received the doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Oklahoma, a master of music from Oklahoma City University and a bachelor of music education from the University of North Texas. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Psi, the American Federation of Musicians, the Collegiate Band Directors National Association and the National Association for Music Education.
