What is my GPA?
This information cannot be given out over the phone or via email. Please stop in the Registrar's Office to inquire in person. Evening and Online students can ask their academic advisor in person.
What should I wear?
If it's a warm day, guests should be mindful that it can become very warm in the Woltzen Gym during the commencement ceremony. Guests are encouraged to dress for both the event and the weather.
When will I receive my diploma? What will my diploma say?
You will receive your diploma in the mail after the term in which your degree requirements are completed. Diplomas are generally mailed six to eight weeks after term completion, provided a student’s requirements have been met and the student account is free of any holds. The diploma states your name, indicates the type of degree you have been awarded as well as academic honors if you earned them. Majors and minors are not listed on the diploma. Your major is listed in the graduation program and on your academic transcript.
Is there a viewing area for people in wheelchairs?
A reserved area with limited space for guests requiring wheelchairs is available. Guests in wheelchairs and one accompanying guest will be seated in this area. Please ask honor marshals for assistance to this section.
What if there's a medical emergency?
First aid services, provided by trained professionals, will be available if needed during the commencement exercises.
Is there a rehearsal for the commencement ceremony?

Should we bring our family pet along?
Please leave your pets at home. Since the weather in May can sometimes be unseasonably warm, leaving pets unattended while at the ceremony can become a health risk issue for the pet.
Is smoking allowed at Lakeland?
Smoking is not permitted in any Lakeland building. Smoking is permitted outdoors only.
Will there be any food available?
From 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., brunch will be available on the second floor of the Younger Family Campus Center. Cost is $9 and $6 for children ages 5-11. The Daily Grind will be open from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. The Pub and Grill will be open from 10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. During all three commencement ceremonies, a variety of snacks and bottled water will be available for purchase at the Wehr Center concession stand. No food is allowed in the gym.
Will you have flowers to purchase?
It is a tradition to present graduates with a bouquet of flowers following the ceremony. We will have beautiful bouquets of roses available on campus on graduation day, in the Wehr Center. A designated Lakeland student organization will sell roses as a fundraiser. Roses will be sold by the dozen and half-dozen, at $25 and $18 respectively. If you plan on presenting your graduate with flowers, please consider buying them on campus.

Empire Photography has been photographing our commencement ceremonies for many years. Each graduate has photographs taken as they receive their diploma cover, individual portrait after they exit the stage. Graduates and their families receive proofs within 48 hours of the ceremony. We ask all family members to keep the area by the stage traffic free as graduates walk across stage and the photographers complete their tasks. Your family and friends will have a difficult time getting a photo of you receiving your diploma. Following the ceremony there is time to get additional photos or videos with your family and friends near the stage, once the area is clear.
Will Lakeland send news of my graduation to my hometown newspaper?
Lakeland distributes a news release listing names of local graduates to the newspapers listed below. If you are from one of the regions served by one of these papers, they will receive your name as part of our news release. (Please note that larger dailies such as the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and Chicago Tribune/Sun-Times, do not publish graduation lists):

I have young children coming to graduation – do they really need a ticket to be in the Woltzen Gym for the ceremony?
Yes. We have a set number of people who can be in the Woltzen Gym for safety purposes.
Will the ceremonies be streamed live on the web for those who cannot attend?
Yes. The day of the ceremony, visit https://portal.stretchinternet.com/Lakeland/ and links will show up for the ceremonies.
