Linda BosmanIf you've attended Homecoming events, Movers & Shakers Galas or scholarship luncheons, or visited the advancement team in the W.A. Krueger building, you've probably met Linda Bosman. For the past few years, she's been the friendly administrative coordinator for advancement who likely greeted you and helped make sure everything was running smoothly.

Now, Lakeland is proud to announce that Linda's role has expanded significantly. As our new director of alumni and church relations, she'll be more visible than ever, and looks forward to getting to know you better.

"In my previous role, I had the good fortune to meet many of our wonderful alumni," says Bosman. "I'm very excited that through this new position, I'll be able to build on those relationships while forming many new ones."

Linda grew up on a dairy farm near Albany, Wis., south of Madison ("hence my love for cheese," she says with a smile). During her junior year in high school, she visited Lakeland for a school yearbook workshop, and was immediately smitten by the college's rural beauty and energy.

She later attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and earned a degree in journalism, married Al, a dairy farmer from Sheboygan Falls, moved to the area and helped raise two children — Ben, 29, and Alayne, 25.

While working for a marketing communications agency in Sheboygan, Linda became more familiar with Lakeland College, which was one of the firm's clients at the time. When an opportunity to work at Lakeland arose in 2012, Linda pounced.

"It's always nice to be around our students," she says. "They keep you energized. On top of that, I've had the pleasure of meeting our alumni, who are such wonderful people. What's really rewarding is watching our students become alumni, seeing them grow and expressing their love for Lakeland."

Managing church relations is a natural fit for Linda, who grew up in the United Church of Christ and is currently a member of Salem UCC in Plymouth. Lakeland has long been affiliated with the UCC

"The UCC is a big part of our heritage, and we want to continue to honor that," Linda says. "Of course, Lakeland College is inclusive to students of all denominations and beliefs."

While not all of our alumni are UCC members and not all of our UCC friends are graduates of the college, Linda thinks there's a natural fit between the two groups she'll work closely with.

"There's so much synergy there," she says. "I'm looking forward to building and nourishing relationships with our alumni and with our church community."
