Playing for her parents, a couple dozen Lakeland students and members of the college’s staff, Melissa Landgraf made beautiful music in the 1862 Lounge during Thursday’s lunch hour.

Melissa, a sophomore instrumental music performance major from Sheboygan, exceled on flute during the second installment of Lakeland’s Coffee House Series.

One of the highlights was when Melissa performed the Dave Brubeck classic, “Take Five,” switching in mid-song from flute to piccolo, then hitting some impressive high notes. She also played the well-known piece, “The Entertainer.”

The Coffee House Series showcases talented Lakeland College students. Jacob Nault kicked off the series with a piano and singing performance on Oct. 29, and Malcolm Blakley will play the saxophone on Dec. 3.
