More than 50 Lakeland University student-athletes played critical roles in the success of the 2016 Gus Macker 3-on-3 basketball tournament this past weekend in Sheboygan.

The student-athletes, representing men’s basketball, softball and football, served as volunteer referees, scorekeepers, court monitors and shooting contest supervisors on Saturday and Sunday. Arriving early each morning, the volunteer Muskies worked up to 10-hour days.

Portions of the proceeds from this popular annual Sheboygan event, which drew more than 300 teams and thousands of spectators, will benefit the three athletic programs.

“I can’t thank our Lakeland University students enough,” said Jason Duff, Lakeland University K-12 relations manager and local coordinator of officials for the Gus Macker Sheboygan event.

“These young men and women were dependable, professional and extremely competent. We couldn’t have done it without them.”
