Carrye Jo Cony stood amongst six Lakeland University Beta Sigma Omega fraternity members, smiled and expressed her gratitude.

“Thank you so much for thinking of others and helping members of our community,” said Cony, the volunteer coordinator for the Sheboygan Area Salvation Army. “God bless you.”

For the fourth straight year, the Betas collected clothing, toiletries and cash during a campus-wide drive, then donated it all to the Salvation Army.

This year, in addition to many gently-used clothing and toiletry items that filled the trademark blue Salvation Army barrels, the Betas collected $72 in cash to donate.

According to Cony, every $30 provides one night of shelter, three meals and counseling for someone in need.
