Representatives from 20 regional companies and organizations recently met with more than 70 Lakeland University students during LU’s first-ever Internship and Co-op Fair.

The fair was designed to bring Lakeland students face-to-face with outstanding internship and co-op opportunities.Making the event even more special for LU was that five Lakeland graduates represented their current employers at the fair. Those graduates were: Kaitlin Deschaine (director of operations, United Way); Christian Frahm (exemption analyst, Uline); Demonta Hall (management assistant, Enterprise Rent-A-Car); Abby Weber (director of camp and program, Girl Scouts of Manitou Council); and Braden Woods (assistant operations manager, Orion Energy Systems).

The companies represented were: Ansay and Associates, Boys and Girls Clubs of Sheboygan's County, Caravel Autism Health, Destination Kohler, Enterprise, Girl Scouts, Grow it Forward, Investors Community Bank, Masters Gallery Foods, Milwaukee Sportservice-Miller Park, Northwestern Mutual, Old Wisconsin, Orion, The Osthoff Resort, Road America, Uline, United Way of Sheboygan County and Welbilt.

“We were very excited to launch our first internship fair, and have great energy as we begin to plan for the event in 2018,” said Jessica Lambrecht, Lakeland’s director of career development.

“This type of fair helps students plan for spring and summer options and also helps employers connect with our talented students. Having the alumni participate is even more special, as students easily connect with them. We plan to grow the event next year and are excited about partnering with neighbor institutions to invite students who are interested in staying in Sheboygan County.”
