Lakeland University’s exercise science program was well represented at the National Strength and Conditioning Association-Wisconsin State Clinic in Waukesha, Wis., on April 14. Two Lakeland University studio art majors, Alyssa Gabrielse and Anna Colon, had pieces selected for the upcoming exhibition “Alive in the Arts” at the Plymouth Arts Center, 520 E Mill St., Plymouth, Wis. An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 11, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. The exhibition will be on display through August 3. Lakeland University’s academic and creative acumen will be on full display during the third annual Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Symposium. This day-long event, on Wednesday, April 25, will feature morning oral presentations covering multiple disciplines by dozens of students and five professors. The afternoon includes more oral presentations by students and 14 academic posters will be on display, with their LU student creators on hand to answer questions and discuss their work. Chris Gleason, band director and instrumental music teacher at Patrick Marsh Middle School in the Sun Prairie Area School District and the 2017 Wisconsin Middle School Teacher of the Year and finalist for National Teacher of the Year, presented to Lakeland’s Introduction to Education course. Lakeland University’s chapter of Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology, recently inducted eight new members in a ceremony in the Laun Center. The eight new members are: Jack Banks, Brandon Herrin, Zach Mock, Brianna Sandvick, Jennifer Schwartz, Molly Schwibinger, Joe Walcott and Kendra Zipperer. This was the third induction ceremony of the Lakeland chapter, bringing the total number of inductees to 23. Inducted students must be psychology majors and minors.
