Twice a week, Lakeland College junior Trista Barron makes the short drive to Sheboygan, where for five hours, she learns about occupational therapy at the Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. This exciting internship has cemented Barron’s career ambition. “I want to help people,” says the native of Escanaba, Mich. “That’s really what it comes down to. I don’t want to just sit at a desk all day.”

When she heard the first-place announcement come over the PA system, senior Leah Ulatowski was stunned. This was one trip Callie Olson won’t soon forget. The Lakeland College junior recently returned from Washington, D.C., where for five days, she represented two Division III conferences at the NCAA Convention. Olson, a Muskies basketball player, earned this prestigious appointment through her hard work as Lakeland’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative.
