Lakeland University students in Paul Pickhardt’s BIO 320 evolution course spent Oct. 23 at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. In addition to going through the exhibition halls on evolution and the Earth’s past, students were taken behind-the-scenes to see research collections held at the museum. Lakeland’s STEM Club recently hosted 20 middle and high school girls from nearby Plymouth for an afternoon of exploring science, technology, engineering and mathematics studies and careers. The students toured Lakeland’s Chase Science Center, played an escape room game and minute it to win it STEM-based games. The seniors had opportunities to talk with Lakeland upperclassmen in STEM majors. Students working in Lakeland University’s Exercise Science Research Laboratory recently produced three new research presentations for the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association State Clinic in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., on Oct. 4. Lakeland’s students were the only undergraduates presenting research at this conference.
