Two local artists will be spotlighted as Lakeland University opens its Bradley Gallery season shortly after Labor Day. The work of photographer Kyane Howland and painter Kay Jelinek will be featured in an exhibit entitled “Mermaid Fascinations,” a show about fascination with nature, humans and the planet. Six Lakeland students from the biology and biochemistry departments participated late this summer in Marquette University’s annual Summer Undergraduate Research Poster Symposium in Milwaukee. The Lakeland contingent, comprised of students in the Lakeland Undergraduate Research Experience (LURE) Program, created six posters, which were among the 40 total posters on display. Lakeland University hosted 103 area employers Thursday morning at Blue Harbor Resort to share the innovative ways Lakeland is preparing students for the workforce needs of Sheboygan County.  The morning was led by Jess Lambrecht, Lakeland’s director of career readiness & cooperative education, and Mark Edmond, associate director of career readiness. Lakeland University’s exercise science professor and students present six research studies at the National Strength and Conditioning Association 41st Annual National Conference in Indianapolis, Ind., held July 11-14. Lakeland University junior Emily Grzesiak is studying abroad in London this summer, the first Muskie to participate in Lakeland in London, a partnership between LU and the Foundation for International Education (FIE). Grzesiak is taking coursework and serving an internship in the accounting and finance department of a marketing firm as part of the eight-week summer program.
