Exploratory first-year collegiate & career experience for Sheboygan-area students
We value work – and the learning that happens in the workplace. That’s why Lakeland University and major, local, employers have created an easy way for you to launch your professional and college career ... at a significantly reduced cost!
Complete a full year of college coursework while beginning your career at a company that is invested in your success!
Along with traditional coursework, you’ll leverage Lakeland’s innovative Cooperative Education program to apply what you are learning in a paid position and earn academic credit, too.
Balancing work and school can be challenging. How will you navigate scheduling challenges? What if your employer isn’t supportive of your educational goals? How can I meet my financial commitments while making progress toward a degree?
Lakeland has removed these barriers by partnering with employers who share your desire to develop your career while attaining your academic goals. Employer partners have worked with Lakeland to create a convenient schedule that will allow you to balance work and school, while offering competitive wages and tuition benefits. Work is a part of the curriculum, not an add-on to your educational experience.
As a student in this progam, you will join a community of like-minded students who will accompany you on your academic and career journey. After year one, students will have several college and career pathways, and Lakeland will provide personalized advising and career support to help students develop the best plan for their future.
Lakeland University has partnered with leading companies who are invested in the long-term growth and success of their employees.
Through our award-winning Cooperative Education program, students earn a full-year of academic credit for professional work experience and coursework that is centered around your real-life experiences, situations and career goals. Learning will be delivered through a cohort model of instruction—meaning all students will be in the same classes, supporting one another.
Lakeland University will assist students in choosing an employer partner that will be a match for their career goals, and our Cooperative Education & Career Readiness team team will assist you in navigating the application and on-boarding process with your chosen employer.
Upon hire, students will enjoy a customized work schedule that will allow students to work and take classes with a cohort of students who are on the same academic and career journey.
Lakeland is committed to making a college education affordable and easily accessible for all of our students. Combined with support from Lakeland University, employer tuition reimbursement offerings, and the wages you’ll earn, you can graduate with little to no debt.
Our Cooperative Education and Career Readiness Office will help you find the best fit that will meet your career, educational and financial goals.

Proving to Johnsonville that I am a hard-working student and that I will do what it takes to gain their respect while getting my degree can only help with getting a full-time job at Johnsonville after graduation. I plan to show them that their investment in me was well worth it.
