The successful launch of our Cooperative Education program has positioned us well for the future. Our program has been the subject of several media stories and won an innovation award in 2019.
Unlike many of our higher education peers, Lakeland’s traditional campus has enjoyed large incoming classes each of the last two falls. We have also added several new academic programs on the undergraduate and graduate level by working with corporate partners to understand their needs, helping us to better position our graduates for post-graduation employment.

Lakeland University is a Bachelor's and Master's Degree-granting liberal arts institution related to the United Church of Christ serving nearly 3,500 students from 24 countries. Our international institute offers more than 30 majors. Among them are our newest academic programs including Bachelor’s Degrees in Food Safety and Quality, Graphic Design and Management Information Systems, as well as a new Master of Science Degree in Leadership and Organizational Development.
Our primary campus is located in rural Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. We offer evening and online courses through the Kellett School, which has centers in Milwaukee, Madison, Wisconsin Rapids, Fox Cities, Green Bay and Sheboygan. Lakeland also offers an Associates Degree program at our two-year international campus in Tokyo, Japan.
Lakeland is an Experiential Education institution. We believe the best way to learn is by pairing knowledge with practice. At our residential campus, students can earn their degree while gaining 12-18 months of professional work experience. Students have a pathway to graduate in four years with little or no tuition debt, making a Bachelor Degree accessible to anyone with the desire to learn. Our adult learners earn their degree often while juggling careers and families. Our flexible delivery allows these students to earn credit in the classroom and in their workplace. Whether enhancing their resume or looking to completely change their career pathways, we offer innovative pathways for degree completion.

Lakeland traces its beginnings to German immigrants who, seeking a new life, traveled to America and eventually to the Sheboygan area where they settled in 1847. Even as they struggled for food and shelter, these pioneers thought in terms of higher education for their children. Here are some key milestones in the college’s history:
The successful candidate will have experience in advancing an institution with a coherent liberal arts and cooperative education curriculum and vision; will demonstrate a record of transparent and collegial leadership; will demonstrate a record of successful fundraising; will command respect within the academic community; and will demonstrate the capacity to be a successful agent of change. Outstanding fiscal and budgetary skills are required, as are excellent communication skills, including the capacity and determination to actively listen to the University’s varied constituencies. The successful candidate will demonstrate a firm and actionable understanding of higher education’s current circumstances and the marketplace for institutions of LU’s type. S/he will have a documented history of innovative leadership.

The Committee will begin screening applicants on or after February 10, 2020. The appointment is expected to begin in July of 2020.
