Professor Mehraban Khodavandi to retire

For many years, Professor Mehraban Khodavandi has indicated (with a smile) that he was retiring and heading to sunny Arizona. This time, he’s not kidding.

Dr. Khodavandi has announced he will retire at the end of the 2019-20 academic year, ending a 39-year career at Lakeland that saw him lead and develop the institution’s education program.

He currently serves as director of Graduate Education Programs and Senior Fellow of the Center for Advanced Disciplinary Studies, the latest in a long list of roles he has served. He is one of Lakeland’s most beloved professors and the winner of numerous teaching awards.

We’ll be planning a special reunion of education program graduates and friends this summer to help wish him well in retirement – more on that as it develops!

Making a gift this holiday season?

Many individuals each year give stock to Lakeland or choose Lakeland to receive their IRA charitable rollover. These gifts offer the donor the opportunity to realize significant tax advantages, while also supporting the mission of Lakeland. When transferring stock or an IRA distribution, please be sure to notify the advancement office before making your gift. Brokers often do not supply donor information with these types of gifts, and we want to properly acknowledge all of our generous donors.

Please communicate directly with the Advancement Services Coordinator, Stuart Schmidt, at 920-565-1023 ext. 2160 or SchmidtSJ@Lakeland.edu, regarding your plans.
