CAMPUS LIFE STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Troy Seehafer
Interim Director for Residence Life
Hello Muskies Parents!
I am Troy, the interim director for residence life. I am also the hall director for Grosshuesch and Brotz Halls. I work with all students who live on campus. If you have any questions regarding housing or residence life, please email halldirectors@lakeland.edu and a hall director will respond.
I have been at Lakeland for just over a year now. I enjoy watching our students learn and grow. It makes me happy when a student is stressed out about a project or exam and then tells me that they got an A afterward. Seeing their hard work pay off lets me know that we, as a university, have helped to prepare our students. When our students come to me with a problem, I enjoy helping to guide them to their own solution.
About me:
I support all our students. I am a regular attendee at home athletic events and have occasionally been known to go to games that are away from campus. I also attend plays, musicals, concerts, recitals and other student-centered events.
I am a fan of trivia and expanding my general knowledge.
I am an expert in Microsoft Excel and can be quite nerdy when it comes to a nice spreadsheet.
I enjoy working with your students and seeing them on campus!
Sincerely,
Troy Seehafer

Healthy habits to talk to your student about to help protect against flu.
The single best way to reduce the risk of seasonal flu and its potentially serious complications is to get vaccinated each year, but good health habits like avoiding people who are sick, covering your cough and washing your hands often can help stop the spread of germs and prevent respiratory illnesses like flu. The tips and resources below will help you learn about actions you can take to protect yourself and others from flu and help stop the spread of germs.
Avoid close contact.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.
Stay home when you are sick.
If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. This will help prevent spreading your illness to others.
Cover your mouth and nose.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick. Flu viruses spread mainly by droplets made when people with flu cough, sneeze or talk.
Clean your hands.
Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
Germs can be spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
Practice other good health habits.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work, or school, especially when someone is ill. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
Meal Plans
All residential students are required to have a meal plan. A student can only be granted an opt-out of a meal plan if approved by the vice president for campus life/dean for students. The criteria for opting out of a meal plan is based on the university’s dining services department demonstrating that it cannot support nor accommodate the student’s dietary needs.
Lakeland has three meal plan options:
All-Access Plan
- 19 Meals Per Week
- 285 Lakeland Dining Meals Per Semester
- $100 in Muskie Money
- Cost For Plan: $2,556*
Gold Plan
