Did You Know?

Muskie Trivia Corner

Quick bites of Lakeland history, memories, and Muskie pride.

In the 1940s, there were plans to move campus to Sheboygan and rename it Chapel Heights College.

The land for Lakeland’s existing campus was donated in the early 1860s by Frederick Reineking and Simon Steffen.

Have a memory tied to one of these facts—or a fun piece of trivia we haven’t covered? We’d love to hear it! Email us at alumni@lakeland.edu.

Campus Rewind: The Grants Come Home

Alex ’09 and Jennifer (Hoffman) Grant ’08 returned to campus in June to celebrate a special anniversary with a photo session and their kids. The couple, who met as Lakeland students, recreated some of their favorite Muskie memories—snapping photos at meaningful spots from their college days.

Alumni Highlight

Bob Loffredo ’70 Named Trustee Emeritus

The Lakeland University Board of Trustees recently honored Bob Loffredo ’70 with Trustee Emeritus status, recognizing his decades of service. A dedicated Muskie for over 50 years, Bob has shared his time, talent, and resources with Lakeland—serving as a trustee, being inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1982, and remaining a familiar face at events like the Blaster’s Golf Outing.

“Bob is the consummate Muskie,” said President Beth Borgen. “We can always count on him for sage advice and unwavering support.”

Bob retired after a 40-year career with Snap-on Tools, where he rose to VP of U.S. industrial sales. He holds a master’s in education administration and lives in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., with his wife, Carole McKinney ’69.
