Dec 2020 – Muskie Pride

A gift for President Black

We are gathering stories and letters of thanks from our Lakeland community for President David Black’s (final) retirement! A memory book will be created for him so he can read how much we appreciate everything he has done for Lakeland. Click here to leave a note to be included in Dr. Black’s memory book. You can also make a gift in honor of Dr. Black. All gifts given in recognition of Dr. Black’s retirement will support student scholarships.

Become a “Lakeland Champion”

Each year, hundreds of generous donors write out their checks, put a stamp on the envelope, and mail in their donation. Or, they have a reminder in their calendars to give online. Now, giving to Lakeland is more convenient!

We’ve launched a new giving program, the Lakeland Champion Club, which makes giving to Lakeland easy. You can make automatic donations weekly, monthly, or yearly, depending on your wishes. There’s no need for reminders or stamps. You choose when and what you want to donate, and we’ll handle it from there!

Lakeland receives Bradley Foundation grant

Lakeland University has been awarded a $273,000 grant from the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation to fund a variety of economic education programs through the university’s Office for the Advancement of Free Enterprise Education (OAFEE). Be sure to check our blog to learn more about this generous gift!

A Co-Op Story

Student Steve Lozano and his father, Craig Lozano

Parents play an important role in the lives of college students. They mentor, guide and support every step of the way. They also help their child explore the world and encourage them to develop their passions. LU sport management major Steve Lozano and his father, Craig Lozano, shared their Cooperative Education story.

[Un]Common Ground Campaign Results

The word “success” does not begin to describe the remarkable results of the UnCommon Ground campaign…and it was all because of you!

We’ve put together a snapshot of the dollars received: who gave them, where they came from, and what they are being used for! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting the mission of Lakeland University!

Our alumni are represented in a variety of work environments and are eager to share advice and help our current students!

Whether it is mentoring, job shadowing or helping with practice interviews, there are many opportunities to assist current Muskies in their education. Are you ready to help another Muskie out?

A Presidential Perspective

We invite you to watch “A Presidential Perspective”, a video that was shared last month with members of our 1862 & Founders’ Society. The video features a discussion between President David Black and our next president, Beth Borgen, as they review the state of Lakeland and what the future holds for the university.

Christmas at Lakeland virtual concert

The Lakeland University Music Department will present the annual Christmas at Lakeland concert virtually this December as we help set the mood for the coming holiday season. The concert will be available on demand beginning Friday, December 4, at 6:30 p.m. on Lakeland’s YouTube channel. The concert will feature sacred and secular music performed by the Lakeland Symphonic Band, Lakeland Choir, Lakeland Camerata, Lakeland Men’s Chorus and Lakeland Jazz Ensemble. There will be a Christmas Festival Sing-Along featuring Lakeland alumni with the Lakeland Choir.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Lakeland University!

Help us keep in touch with you!

You enjoy reading news about your classmates and friends – they would love to read about you, too. Did you move? Get married? Get a new job? As we prepare the next edition of the Lakeland University Magazine, let us know so we can keep you informed and include your changes in future issues of the “Alma Matters” section of the magazine.

If you have a seasonal home, please let us know your travel plans this winter! Telling us whether or not you are “flying south” will help us reach you more effectively in the coming months.
