Lakeland University offers Esports as part of our varsity athletics. Lakeland’s co-ed team competes in the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Starleague, which serves as the governing body to more than 150 colleges and universities setting standards for eligibility and conduct for collegiate Esports, as well as the NECC and ECAC.

Brett Sheldon, a coach in Lakeland’s Esports program since its debut in the fall of 2020, was named the Muskies’ head coach in January of 2023.

Lakeland University has created an Esports Scholarship Program Fund to award $1,000-$3,000 per year for new, qualified students. Esports Scholarships are stackable with Lakeland's academic scholarships ($12,000-$18,000 per year). The scholarships are available for new, full-time, freshmen or transfer students. Outside sponsorships and donations have allowed Lakeland to create this scholarship fund to help support the recruitment and development of Lakeland's Esports Program into a nationally renowned program.
Requirements
Lakeland University has a 3,000-square foot, state-of-the-art Esports Arena. The arena features 30 gaming stations, six consoles, a lounge area and space for spectators to enjoy the action.

Interested in playing in our Esports arena? Lakeland's facility is open to students, faculty and staff for $5 (for 2.5 hours of gaming) or $10 (for 5 hours of gaming). You can use Muskie money, cash or credit. Max capacity is 25 individuals.
Lakeland University is a proud partner of the Milwaukee Bucks NBA 2K team, Bucks Gaming! This partnership not only elevates our esports program, but supports the development of esports throughout the state of Wisconsin.
The partnership provides Lakeland’s esports student-athletes the opportunity to learn from professional gamers, and creates new opportunities for high school student-athletes.
