Lakeland University offers Esports as part of our varsity athletics. Lakeland’s co-ed team competes in the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) Starleague, which serves as the governing body to more than 150 colleges and universities setting standards for eligibility and conduct for collegiate Esports, as well as the NECC and ECAC.

    Brett Sheldon, a coach in Lakeland’s Esports program since its debut in the fall of 2020, was named the Muskies’ head coach in January of 2023.

    Esports at Lakeland University

    Esports Scholarships

    Lakeland University has created an Esports Scholarship Program Fund to award $1,000-$3,000 per year for new, qualified students. Esports Scholarships are stackable with Lakeland's academic scholarships ($12,000-$18,000 per year). The scholarships are available for new, full-time, freshmen or transfer students. Outside sponsorships and donations have allowed Lakeland to create this scholarship fund to help support the recruitment and development of Lakeland's Esports Program into a nationally renowned program.

    ESPORTS SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS MUST UPHOLD THE FOLLOWING:
    • Maintain full-time enrollment in the traditional undergraduate program at the main campus
    • Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA
    • Maintain good standing (personal conduct) with the campus community
    • Embody the core values of Lakeland's Esports Program
    • Maintain active status on the Esports roster (competing and/or stream production)
    • Maintain strong service to the Esports program beyond competitions (not limited to: staffing summer esports camps, assist with esports recruitment, assist with social media, streaming production, shoutcasting, etc.)

    Lakeland University has a 3,000-square foot, state-of-the-art Esports Arena. The arena features 30 gaming stations, six consoles, a lounge area and space for spectators to enjoy the action.

    Interested in playing in our Esports arena? Lakeland's facility is open to students, faculty and staff for $5 (for 2.5 hours of gaming) or $10 (for 5 hours of gaming). You can use Muskie money, cash or credit. Max capacity is 25 individuals.

    Saturdays: 12 - 5 p.m.
    Sundays: 11 a.m - 4 p.m.
