Bradley Gallery to feature photography of Martin Keey
Lakeland University’s Bradley Gallery will feature the work of Wisconsin photographer Martin Keey in the upcoming exhibit “Recovering Humans,” on display Sept. 18 through Oct. 30.
Keey’s photography explores memory, time and atmosphere, with a focus on abandoned buildings, street scenes, landscapes and the heightened tension of night. His work captures fleeting light, architectural decay and unscripted human moments, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface and consider the stories and emotions held within overlooked spaces.
A self-taught photographer, Keey began his work as a photojournalist after becoming the photographer for a Harley-Davidson motorcycle group in 2000. Since then, he has continued developing his approach to photography, studying the work of photographers who inspire him and looking for creative ways to tell a story through each image.
“Recovering Humans” will open with a reception and convocation Friday, Sept. 18, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Bradley Gallery. The exhibit will be open through Oct. 30.
Keey’s work has been shown from Racine to Rome. Recent exhibits include the 68th Annual Beloit & Vicinity Exhibition at the Wright Museum of Art; Art of Water – James May Gallery; Healing - Nadian Art Gallery; And I Will Tell You Mine – John Michael Kohler Art Center, Sheboygan, Wis.; Ongoing – Ronald McDonald House, Wauwatosa, Wis.; and Ongoing – Inventors Brewpub, Port Washington, Wis.
