Lakeland musicians perform with state honor band
Three Lakeland University musicians were selected as part of the recent 2025 Wisconsin Concert Band Association Intercollegiate Honor Band.
Senior Ashley Esser (French horn, Arpin Wis.) Paige Pierson (flute, Fredonia, Wis.) and Maddie Klauer (clarinet, Fort Atkinson, Wis.) were selected to perform with other top instrumental collegiate musicians from around the state at Greenhill Center for the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Esser and Pierson have been selected previously for this honor, while Klauer was selected for the first time. Esser is a music composition major, while Pierson and Klauer are music education majors.
The band was conducted by composer and Wisconsin native Erika Svanoe. The program included the world premiere of her new composition, “Bolerobot.”
At Lakeland, the students are part of a music program led by Evan Chancellor, Lakeland associate professor of music and director of bands.
