LUJ faculty member authors third book
A new book by Patrick Parr, a faculty member for Lakeland University-Japan’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program, entitled “Malcolm Before X” is now available.
Drawing upon interviews, correspondence and nearly 2,000 pages of never-before-used prison records, “Malcolm Before X” is the definitive examination of the prison years of civil rights icon Malcolm X. It is Parr’s third book.
“Malcolm Before X” has been named a “Kirkus Reviews” Best Nonfiction Book of 2024 and a Spectator Best Book of the Year.
Parr will make several appearances in the U.S. to celebrate the publication, including Chicago at City Lit Books on December 5 talking with author Jonathan Eig about the book as well as the formative years of Martin Luther King Jr.
On December 10, Parr will be in Montgomery, Ala., at NewSouth Books where he will show some rare photos. On December 12, he will sign books at the Harvard Bookstore and Brookline Booksmith.
