Dr. Andrew Karls is a broadly trained biologist whose research specialization focuses on cellular neurophysiology. After receiving his graduate degree from Marquette University, Dr. Karls remained in Milwaukee as a postdoctoral researcher, investigating the molecular action of alcohols in the brain. Dr. Karls was born and raised in Wisconsin, so he considers himself tremendously lucky to have found a such a great professional fit at Lakeland. As part of the Exercise Science faculty, Dr. Karls teaches the introductory biology course and the anatomy and physiology sequence, as well as advising ESS majors. When not working at Lakeland, Dr. Karls may likely be found hiking with his German Shepherd dog, at a Packers or Brewers game, or on the golf course.
