Lakeland set for 164th commencement ceremony

Lakeland University will award degrees to 519 students this Saturday, May 9, at the institution’s 164th commencement.

Lakeland will award 397 undergraduate degrees and 122 graduate degrees as part of the day. LU is holding three in-person ceremonies in the Wehr Center on Lakeland’s main campus:

  • 10 a.m. – Master’s degree ceremony.
  • 1 p.m. – Evening/online undergraduate degree ceremony.
  • 4 p.m. – Traditional undergraduate degree ceremony.

Each ceremony can be watched live by clicking this link. The ceremonies will be recorded for on-demand viewing at the same link beginning later on May 9.

Students getting degrees Saturday took classes at Lakeland’s main campus in Sheboygan County, through its six centers located throughout Wisconsin and/or through online programming.

Speakers at the three ceremonies are:

  • 10 a.m. – Tom Farley, community outreach director, Recovery.com
  • 1 p.m. – David Black, Lakeland University president emeritus and Jane Parke Batten, philanthropist and civic leader
  • 4 p.m. – Scott Miller, president, Virginia Wesleyan University

All three speakers will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from LU.
