Natasha Verhulst wasn’t taught Native American music in school. Now a teacher, she’s changing that.

Natasha Verhulst, a student in the Master of Music in Music Education – Kodaly Emphasis program, was recently featured in the Green Bay Press Gazette for her leadership in integrating Native American music into Wisconsin music classrooms.

Now that the Kodaly Summer Graduate Music program has found a new home at Lakeland University, Verhulst looks forward to completing her MM degree at the place where she spent a great deal of time as a young music student. She attended music camp at Lakeland during her middle school years and attended music festivals for choir and band throughout her middle and high school career. Verhulst plans to center her capstone research project for her master’s degree on the integration of Native American music into music curricula.
