Lakeland University’s 2021 Kodály Summer Graduate Music Program Online due to COVID-19

In order to ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff, Lakeland will offer all of its Kodály Graduate Music courses fully online for the summer of 2021.

The program, previously housed at Holy Family College (Silver Lake College of the Holy Family), offers a Master of Music in Music Education – Kodály Emphasis program, an OAKE-Endorsed Kodály Certificate program, and non-degree workshop offerings. These workshop offerings include First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfege – Upper & Lower Levels.

Lakeland is well positioned to help students attain their educational goals through online learning. Lakeland has offered online programming for more than 20 years and was among the first schools in the United States to fully offer a degree online.

This decision allows students to take advantage of all that the program has to offer safely from home without the cost of travel.

The Kodály Summer Graduate Music Program has developed an outstanding reputation for a number of reasons, including:

  • The program’s faculty are leaders in the field of music education and provide an experience that is joyful, supportive, and immensely meaningful.
  • Scholarships are available for the Master of Music in Music Education – Kodály Emphasis, OAKE-Endorsed Kodály Certificate and Orff Schulwerk Certification – Level I programs.
  • The program is designed with the busy music educator in mind.
    • Master of Music in Music Education Program - 34 total credits.
    • Includes OAKE endorsed Kodály Certificate.
    • Can be completed in 4 summers with an intensive two-week residency.
    • Option to earn ORFF Schulwerk Certification.
      • Orff Schulwerk Level I Certification will be held in person July 26-August 6. All other courses will be online. Please visit here for more information about this course.
