Cooperative Education: Daniel Kaufmann

Name: Daniel Kaufmann

Hometown: Newton, Wis.

Major: Business administration.

Year in school: Sophomore.

Co-Op job: Lead member service representative at Meadowlark Credit Union.

I participate in the Co-Op program because: Cooperative Education allows me to apply the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom to real-world situations. This practical experience can deepen my understanding of the business industry. During a Co-Op experience, I get to work with professionals in my industry. This provides me with the chance to network and build valuable connections that may be beneficial for future job opportunities. Overall, Cooperative Education provides an approach to learning by combining academic knowledge with practical experience, preparing me to transition from education to the workforce successfully.

Post-graduation dream job: Chief executive officer.

Favorite LU faculty/staff member: Kohler-Jacobson Chair of Business & Entrepreneurship Stephanie Hoskins

Lakeland is a good fit for me because: At Lakeland, students have the opportunity to form strong connections with their professors, thanks to the small class sizes.

Lakeland University is the only Midwestern school that offers Cooperative Education across all majors by allowing participating students to gain on-the-job knowledge and academic credit for their work. LU students can earn up to 25% of the degree through work and post-work reflection.

Each year, we welcome more students who are interested in the benefits of Co-Op and the ability to connect with a lengthy list of corporate and organizational partners who support the program and our student’s learning.
