Cooperative Education: John Putnam

Name: John Putnam

Hometown: Elkhart Lake, Wis.

Major: Accounting.

Co-Op job: CEO of Launch: Lakeland Student-Run Businesses; CFO of Vine & Branch Management, LLC

I participate in the Co-Op program because: It allows for me to actively apply what I'm learning in class to the real world. It has allowed me to be able to pursue unique opportunities that have provided real-life experience and still get credit for it.

Campus involvement: Accounting Club, Jazz Band (freshman-sophomore year).

Post-graduation dream job: CPA, auditing.

Lakeland is good fit for me because: It has allowed for me to tailor my educational experience to my academic needs and professional experiences.

Lakeland University is the only Midwestern school that offers Cooperative Education across all majors by allowing participating students to gain on-the-job knowledge and academic credit for their work. LU students can earn up to 25% of the degree through work and post-work reflection.

Each year, we welcome more students who are interested in the benefits of Co-Op and the ability to connect with a lengthy list of corporate and organizational partners who support the program and our student’s learning.
