School for Seniors draws record crowd

A record crowd of more than 80 people was on hand as Lakeland University and the City of Neenah co-sponsored the fourth annual School for Seniors at Lakeland’s Fox Cities Center in Neenah.

The event allows local seniors free access to courses on topics of interest. They are taught simultaneously and offered three times.

This year’s classes were presented by Lakeland faculty and area professionals:

  • Speak Up for Yourself: Communication Skills for Everyday Life – Charlie Krebs, associate professor of theatre and communication
  • Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue: “Pop” Music Through the Ages – Evan Chancellor, assistant professor of music and director of bands
  • Common Scams Targeting Seniors: How to Protect Yourself and Be a Smarter Consumer – Susan Bach, Better Business Bureau, NE Wisconsin regional director.

The event is coordinated by Joshua Kutney, dean of Lakeland’s School of Humanities and Fine Arts and a member of the Neenah Committee on Aging.
