Wisconsin higher ed veteran joins Lakeland team

Jonathan Feld, a higher education veteran with a wide range of experiences in Wisconsin’s technical college system, has joined Lakeland University as vice president for enrollment management of LU’s Kellett School of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies.

Feld leads the student recruitment team for the Kellett School and oversees development and implementation of a strategic enrollment plan to meet Lakeland’s admissions goals.

Feld comes to Lakeland from Milwaukee Area Technical College where, for the past 15.5 years, he has served several lead roles leading to extensive experience in enrollment, academics, student services, program development, strategic planning, partnership building and dual enrollment. He has served on numerous boards and work teams both locally and state-wide.

For the past two years he has served as MATC’s director of high school relations & university transfer. He leads five departments with staff and faculty oversight of more than 100 people including high school relations, university transfer, international education, individualized tech studies and credit for prior learning.

He served as a co-lead on the development of a strategic enrollment management plan and he’s led significant expansion of MATC’s full- and part-time on-campus high school dual enrollment students.

He led the launch of the MATC Center for University Partnerships and Studies, an initiative with Lakeland and additional institutions creating new pathways for MATC graduates to access a bachelor’s degree.

He serves as co-chair of the MATC Promise tuition scholarship, which he co-developed and launched, as well as numerous other leadership roles.

Prior to his current role, Feld was MATC’s interim associate vice president – student services, leading six departments including admissions & assessment, career services, high school relations and four-year transfer.

Achievements included a reduction in admissions processing time-to-decision, enhancing student communication through the admissions process, design and implementation of the Milwaukee Public Schools Early College Dual Enrollment program and launching Dual Enrollment Academies enabling high school students to earn up to 24 college credits cost-free. He also led the launch of a work-infused instructional model with several multi-national companies.

Feld joined MATC in 2007 and has served several other roles, including director of articulation and transfer and coordinator of dual enrollment. In addition to his work at MATC, Feld is an award-winning teacher who has taught at several institutions as an adjunct instructor, including a current teaching role at Lakeland in general studies.

Feld is working toward a doctor of philosophy and leadership from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky. He received a graduate certificate in community college education from Old Dominion University, a master’s degree in literary studies from Fort Hays State University, a bachelor’s in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an associate of arts from Milwaukee Area Technical College.
