In partnership with UW-Stevens Point, Lakeland University will co-host an Orff Schulwerk Certification program from June 29 through July 10, 2026. This summer’s program will take place on the UW-Stevens Point campus. Over the course of these two weeks, music educators will develop their personal musicianship skills, learn to create stylistically and age-appropriate arrangements, and experience pedagogical models appropriate for the elementary and middle school classroom that emphasize improvisation and creativity. This approach stresses the importance of developing a child’s body, ear, and mind as an integrated pathway to creative expression and comprehensive musicianship.
Students have the option to register for the Orff Schulwerk Certification Program – Level I for 3 graduate credits through Lakeland, or as a non-credit bearing workshop through our partners at UW-Stevens Point. Orff Schulwerk Certification Program – Level I credits can be applied to the Master of Music in Music Education – Kodály Emphasis degree offered at Lakeland University. All students who complete the two-week course will be awarded the AOSA level certificate acknowledging participation. (NOTE: This certificate is not the Orff Schulwerk Certificate from AOSA – this is awarded upon completion of all three levels of Orff Schulwerk levels of training.)
